Welcome to Grade 1!
Dear Families,
Grade 1 learners are full of hope and wonder, and so are we! Grade 1 is a milestone year for students’ growth as independent learners and thinkers. As they become more conscious of their interests and imagination, we give them room to express themselves through discussion, writing prompts, and other learning activities. Our approach to math and STEM is hands-on and inquiry-based, beginning with a question and encouraging students to develop questions of their own. Our students will continue to grow as readers with our phonics-based curriculum. They will also dive into addition and subtraction, Spanish language acquisition, historical figures, and principles of engineering. We will play math games, write personal narratives, do art projects, and revel in the experience of learning together!
