- Back-to-School Night Recording: If you weren't able to attend last week's event, you can view the administrators' comments and watch the recording here.
- Pirate Parent Club (PPC) Meeting: All Upper Division parents/guardians are invited to attend a PPC welcome meeting via Zoom tomorrow, September 15, 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. We will cover events, volunteering, engage in an "Ask a Pirate Parent" panel, take a walk through a Parent Pirate Page, and more. Please register here.
- Community Curriculum: Guest speaker Khang Ho, MPH, RDN, a clinical dietitian with a specialty in diabetes and nutrition therapy, will come to campus to speak with the student body about nutrition, how to fuel your body, and other pertinent information. He will speak with Grade 11 and 12 students on Tuesday, September 16, and Grade 9 and 10 students on Tuesday, September 30. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to Sarah Koshi, director of student leadership and wellness curriculum.
- Transition Comments: Comments will go out on Friday, September 19, only for students whose teachers have identified an early opportunity for growth. All students will then receive midterm comments in advance of Family Weekend.
- Day of Service & Community Curriculum: On Monday, September 22, Grades 10-12 will join forces with local organizations across the Monterey Peninsula to serve the community. Students will participate in various on-campus and Peninsula-wide projects dedicated to giving back to the community. Due to the date change for the Grade 9 Retreat (now September 28 and 29), Grade 9 students will partake in a Community Curriculum Day focused on social media and cell phone use. Grade 9 Service Day will take place on Wednesday, October 1, when older students are taking the PSAT and SAT and seniors are busy with college application tasks. These special days are required for all students and they should arrive for an 8:30 a.m. advisory meeting where attendance will be taken. The days will finish with plenty of time for students to attend their after-school co-curricular commitments. We are excited about this opportunity for students to make a meaningful impact in the community!
- College Counseling Senior Parent/Guardian College Night: We invite you to join Martha Allen and Jon Burke, Co-Directors of College Counseling, for a virtual information session on Wednesday, September 24, 7:30 p.m. – 8:45 p.m. This session will provide an in-depth overview of the college application process, including how to build a well-balanced college list, important deadlines and admissions plans, financial aid and more. Take advantage of this valuable opportunity to gain insight into the current college admissions landscape, understand the Grade 12 timeline, and learn where your child stands in the process. Please register on your Parent Pirate Page. A recording will be available on Pirate Pages.
- Course Changes: The last day to add or change a course is Friday, September 26. Please note: Students may still drop a course or change down from an advanced course until the Friday after Family Weekend, but early changes are strongly recommended.
- Grade 9 Retreat: All Grade 9 students will spend Sunday and Monday, September 28 and 29, at Camp Koinonia in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Details were included in an email from Mr. Koshi and can be found on your Pirate Page.
- Lifeguard Certification Course: Stevenson will be hosting an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course at the Stevenson Pirate Pool, October 4–5, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. The fee is $340 and students must sign up independently. Participants are required to be at least 15 years old and complete ~6 hours of online content beforehand. Once certified, students join Stevenson's lifeguard list to work open pool events or use this credential for summer jobs. Students can sign up here.
- Health Center: Stevenson, along with Central Avenue Pharmacy, will be hosting two flu clinics on campus, October 8 and 27. We highly recommend having your student vaccinated. If you would like your student to participate in the clinic, please fill out the attached consent form and email it to the Health Center: [email protected]. We will be using student medical insurance so there will be no cost to you.
- Fall Picture Make Up Day: If your student missed picture day last Thursday, please remind them that make up day is Wednesday, October 29, 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in the Dining Hall. If you have questions, please contact Michelle Boatman.
- How to Approve Your Student's Off-Campus Pass: Students are now able to create overnight passes if they wish to leave campus on the weekends. These passes must be completed by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday. All off-campus 'sleep over' passes require parent approval by the time the leave date starts; these pass requests will be sent to your email. Check out this video or this article to see how to approve a pass request.
- Student Life: We offer a variety of fun activities for our students every weekend. These are open to both boarding and day students. Curious about what is offered? Check out the weekend activities that are updated each week on your Pirate Page!
- Airport Transportation for Boarding Students: For all major breaks (Thanksgiving, winter and spring break), shuttles will be available to reserve from campus to San Jose and San Francisco airports for boarding students. Departure from campus will be on Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. and Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. Keep an eye out for a signup link in next week's communication to reserve the shuttle for the upcoming Thanksgiving break. Should a student need to reserve a shuttle for additional weekends, including fall break, families may book directly through Groome Transportation; Stevenson is an available pick-up/drop-off location.
