Carmel Campus Updates

Lower and Middle Division

  • If you haven't already done so, please take a moment to complete our Parent Association survey that was sent out this past week. We value your feedback and encourage all families to share their thoughts on how we can continue to enhance our program and improve the Parent Association meetings.
  • We want to address ongoing concerns regarding our carline procedures, specifically related to traffic on Dolores Avenue during drop-off and pick-up times. To ensure the safety of our students, staff and the surrounding community, it is essential that we adhere to the following guidelines:
    • No Driving on Northbound Dolores During Carline Hours: Parents should refrain from driving up Dolores Avenue during carline hours. This area becomes particularly congested and can pose a danger to students arriving and leaving on foot, as well as to arriving staff, neighbors and other non-school-related traffic.
    • Left Turns on Vista: If you choose to drop off Middle Division students at the top of the stairs, please only turn left onto Vista Avenue when departing. There should be no vehicle traffic arriving to campus from Vista Avenue.
    • Off-Limits Area: The block of Dolores Avenue between Vista Avenue and 1st Street should be off-limits during carline times to any parents dropping off at school. This measure is in place to ensure a safer environment for everyone involved, limiting any unnecessary traffic congestion and keeping a smooth flow of departure traffic.
    • Use Turn Signals: We kindly remind everyone to use their turn signals when parking or changing course. This practice helps our security team manage traffic more effectively, ultimately contributing to a smoother and safer carline experience for all.

Your cooperation in following these guidelines is crucial to maintaining a safe and efficient drop-off and pick-up process.

  • REMINDER: All medications, including over-the-counter medications like Advil and Tylenol, must be administered through the nurse's office. Students are not permitted to bring medication to school or keep it in their backpacks, with the exception of prescribed EpiPens and inhalers. This policy is outlined in the school handbook and is in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all students. If your child requires medication during the school day, please contact the nurse's office to make the necessary arrangements. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
  • Stevenson Lower and Middle Division is collecting used Halloween costumes the week of October 23-25. We will share what we gather with the Boys and Girls Club, Seaside Clubhouse. We will have a box for donations at the front of the school.
  • The week of October 28, we will have a canned food drive: Trick or Treat So Others Can Eat. We will share non-perishable food donations with the families we support through our Carmel Campus service program. More details will be shared next week.
  • We are still seeking volunteers to support us with setting up and running our Halloween Carnival stations on Thursday, October 31. To sign up, please use this link.
  • Join fellow community members at the Fort Ord National Monument, Saturday, October 26, and lend a helping hand by collecting native plant seed for habitat restoration, controlling invasive weeds or other rewarding volunteer work. A free lunch and other gifts will be provided following the work project. Please wear closed-toe shoes and appropriate clothing for outdoor work. Sorry, no dogs are allowed. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) cooperatively manages the Fort Ord National Monument with the U.S. Army on 7,446 acres of Army land, and 7,205 acres of BLM land right here in Monterey county. The Monument is committed to conserving natural resources, enhancing and improving recreation opportunities, and honoring the military heritage of this special place. To volunteer, please register here. For more information, visit https://fortordcleanup.com/arch.
