All School Update

- Veterans Day This Tuesday: Thank you to all veterans and those currently in service. We are grateful for your dedication and sacrifices. Please note: Classes will be in session on this day.
- Dusty Boots Tour: Join us this Thursday, Nov. 13, at 4 p.m., for an introduction to the math, science, and engineering building project. Director of Facilities and Capital Projects Chris Madill '86 will guide the tour from Douglas Hall to the active construction site. Please be sure to wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. - Stevenson Fall Play: Clue! opens this week, running Nov. 13-15 in Keck Auditorium, 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Please come support our actors and technicians! Reservations are highly recommended. Please click here for more information.
- Community & Parent/Guardian Education: On Monday, Nov. 17, at 6:30 p.m., Dr. Casey Grover '02, P'28 – a lifelong Monterey County resident, Stevenson School graduate and current Grade 10 parent – will speak with our parent/guardian community about alcohol, drugs and vaping (including both nicotine and cannabis). His talk will cover the dangers, social impacts, effective communication strategies and warning signs to watch for. Dr. Grover has already met with our Grade 9 students and will continue his presentations with the Middle and Upper Division grades throughout the year. All Grades Pre-K-12 parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to attend this Zoom session. The event link will be available on your Pirate Page before the event.
- Upcoming Pirate Parent Club (PPC) Gatherings: There are a lot of PPC event registrations on your Pirate Page. Please join for a First Friday Fitness and Fun, Book Club and more!

- Future Pirates Parent Socials: We're hosting socials for prospective parents of the Lower, Middle and Upper Divisions to meet our administrators and current parents while enjoying wine and light bites. If you know any prospective parents who are interested in attending, they can register here.
- This Wednesday, Nov. 12, 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. – Albatross Ridge, Carmel
- Carmel Campus Open House: We're also hosting our first ever Pre-K – Grade 8 "Step Into Stevenson" event on Saturday, Dec. 6, 8:30 a.m. – noon. Prospective families will be able to meet students, parents/guardians and faculty; explore classrooms and see our programs in action. Prospective families can register here.

Carmel Campus Updates

Lower and Middle Divisions
- Late Start This Wednesday, Nov. 12: School starts at 8:45 a.m. for Lower Division and 9 a.m. for Middle Division.
- Thanksgiving Break: The upcoming holiday break will run Monday, Nov. 24 through Monday, Dec. 1, with classes resuming on Tuesday, Dec. 2.
Lower Division
- Classroom Socials: These gatherings are a wonderful opportunity to connect, celebrate student learning and enjoy time together in the classroom community. We're excited for you to join!
- Pre-K: Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2:10 p.m. – 2:40 p.m.
- Grades 2 and 4: Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2:30 p.m. – 3 p.m.
- Grades K, 1 and 3: Thursday, Nov. 20, 2:30 p.m. – 3 p.m.
- Lower Division Assembly: Our next assembly will be on Friday, Nov. 21, at 8:15 a.m. We look forward to coming together as a community to celebrate student achievements and share in the joy of learning.
- Carmel Library Cards: Students should have brought home library card forms for the Carmel Public Library. If you would like your child to receive their library card, please complete the form and return it to school. We'll make sure all forms are delivered to the library for processing.
Middle Division
- Grade 8 Family and Student Event: You are invited to the home of Aimée Bates, head of the Upper Division, on the Pebble Beach campus this Tuesday, Nov. 11, 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m.; please register by visiting your Pirate Page. The reception will provide parents/guardians the opportunity to connect with our academic department heads and program directors who will be shaping your child's experience over the next four years. In addition to leaders from core subject areas, colleagues from arts, athletics, college counseling and learning support services will join us. While parents/guardians are mingling, our Grade 8 students will enjoy dinner and programming with student leaders on campus, engaging in their own transitions curriculum.
- Grade 8 Shadow Day: This Friday, Nov. 14, 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Grade 8 students will experience a shadow day on the Pebble Beach campus. Please drop your student off at the Pebble Beach campus at 8 a.m., where they will be greeted at Douglas Hall. Return transportation to the Carmel campus will be provided by Stevenson. The shadow day is a free dress day.
- Postponed – Parent Technology Education Series: Due to an unfortunate and extended health setback for our presenter, this series is postponed until the new year. However, we would like to extend an invitation to our Middle Division parents to join the parent/guardian education series at the Pebble Beach campus on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 8:30 a.m. For more information and to register, please see the "Parent/Guardian Education" item in the Pebble Beach Campus Updates section below.

Pebble Beach Campus Updates

- College Center Update: Senior parents, please join us for the Virtual Senior Parent College Tea this Thursday, Nov. 13, from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. Please register through your Pirate Page.
- Open Monday Night Dinner: We will host a Thanksgiving Monday Night Dinner on Monday, Nov. 17, at 6:15 p.m. Day students are invited to join us in giving thanks and celebrating our community. To reserve a spot and experience our residential traditions, day students should email Marykate Colao, director of residential life. Formal attire is required.
- Parent/Guardian Education: Please join us for a PPC meeting and parent/guardian discussion on Thursday, Nov. 20, 8:30 a.m., facilitated by Aimée Bates, head of the Upper Division; Phillip Koshi, associate head of the Upper Division and dean of students; and Deirdre Laurence, director of counseling. Stevenson has partnered with social media expert Dr. Jill Walsh, and we'll use the first video Dr. Walsh has curated for Stevenson to launch a discussion about best practices and stressors when it comes to parenting teens around tech. Whether or not you attend the event, we hope you'll view this video. After our conversation from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m., in the Treasure Room in Rosen Family Student Center, parents/guardians are invited to attend the regular school assembly at 9:40 a.m. to get a glimpse into daily life on campus. - Airport Transportation for Residential Students: Thanksgiving break begins after school on Friday, Nov. 21; all resident students must be off campus by noon on Saturday, Nov. 22. If you wish to reserve a spot on the shuttle for your student, you can use this form. Sign-ups for the shuttle are due by Nov. 17 at 4 p.m. Limited spots are still available. Please note that Stevenson does not reserve shuttles for the return from break. If you wish to reserve a shuttle, you can do so using Groome Transportation.
- Fall Final Assessments: These assessments will take place Dec. 15-19, during the week prior to winter break. All class meetings during this week are mandatory and cannot be rescheduled or excused due to travel plans.
