All School Update
  • Community & Parent/Guardian Education: Tomorrow, November 18, Dr. Casey Grover '02, P '28 – lifelong resident of Monterey County, graduate of Stevenson School and a current grade 9 parent – will address our student and parent communities about vaping, both nicotine and cannabis, and the potential risks, dangers and social implications of this pervasive problem for many teenagers. He will speak with upper division students during community time on the Pebble Beach Campus and with middle division students during community time/advisory in the coming weeks. All parents/guardians (PK-12) are strongly encouraged to attend our evening Zoom session at 6 p.m. on November 18. Register here to attend.
  • Stevenson Band & Orchestra Instrumental Concert: The Upper Division band and orchestra are pleased to present their fall concert this Thursday, November 21 at 7 p.m. in Keck Auditorium. Our high school musicians will perform classical, jazz and contemporary instrumental styles, and students from the Carmel Campus grade 8 band will also be participating. Please join us as we celebrate the fine work of our students at this delightful, pre-Thanksgiving music event. Reception to follow in Douglas Hall.
  • Community Outreach: On December 9, 3 p.m.-4:30 p.m., Dr. Casey Grover '02, P'28 and School Nurse Erica Sanborn will be on the Pebble Beach campus (Douglas Hall) to distribute Narcan dispensers to our community members. Narcan is a nasal spray that can be used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Dr. Grover shared the importance of Narcan during his parent and student talks last year, and after the success of last year's distribution, we are offering this event to our community again. Please know that this is not in response to any activity on campus, but rather our commitment to the safety of our community and the greater Monterey County community. Click here to learn more. For the Carmel Campus, we will only be distributing Narcan to parents, not students; only Upper Division students will be able to pick up a dose. If you would prefer your student not have access, we will send an email with a form for you to opt-out. Please feel free to contact the Director of Student Leadership and Wellness Curriculum Sarah Koshi with logistical questions, or School Nurse Erica Sanborn with any questions that pertain to Narcan.
  • "Dusty Boots" Tour: Please join President Dr. Dan Griffiths and Director of Facilities and Capital Projects Chris Madill '86 this Friday, November 22 at 1 p.m., for the next monthly "Dusty Boots" tour of the math, science, and engineering building construction site. We will meet in Douglas Hall before walking down to the site. Please be sure to wear closed-toe shoes and long pants; hard hats and safety vests will be provided. A coffee reception in Douglas will follow. Please register here.

Lower and Middle Division
  • Grandparents and Special Friends Day: As we gear up for our campus Grandparents and Special Friends Day this Friday, November 22, please remind your grandparents and special friends to sign up and register for the event if they haven't already. Students are expected to attend school in their uniform this day. Communication went out last week with event details. Additionally, please complete the survey to let us know if your child will:
    • Attend school on that day.
    • Be picked up early if not accompanied by a grandparent or special friend.
    • Depart with their grandparent or special friend after the event concludes at 11:30 a.m.
    • Remain on campus afterward.

Students are encouraged to leave for lunch with their visitors after the event, but we need to know which students will remain on campus. If your child will be staying for after-school free-play, please indicate this in the survey. All students staying after school need to be picked up by 4:30 p.m., and a sign-up is required for after-school care on that day.
