All School Update
  • Community & Parent/Guardian Education: On Monday, November 18, Dr. Casey Grover '02, P '28 – lifelong resident of Monterey County, graduate of Stevenson School and a current grade 9 parent – will address our student and parent communities about vaping, both nicotine and cannabis, and the potential risks, dangers and social implications of this pervasive problem for many teenagers. He will speak with upper division students during community time on the Pebble Beach Campus and with middle division students during community time/advisory in the coming weeks. All parents/guardians (PK-12) are strongly encouraged to attend our evening Zoom session at 6 p.m. on November 18. Register here to attend.
  • Stevenson Band & Orchestra Instrumental Concert: The Stevenson Upper Division band and orchestra are pleased to present their fall concert on Thursday, November 21, at 7 p.m. in Keck Auditorium. Classical, jazz and contemporary instrumental styles will be performed by our high school musicians, and students from the Carmel Campus grade 8 band will also be participating. Please join us as we celebrate the fine work of our students at this delightful, pre-Thanksgiving music event.
  • Thank you to all our Pirate Families who supported the Annual Fund during our October campaign. Carmel Campus Updates
Lower and Middle Division
  • Please check your Parent Pirate Page to see who has registered for the PK-Grade 8 Grandparents and Special Friends Event at the Carmel Campus on Friday, November 22. If you know you have relatives or friends attending and you do not see their names as registered, please contact Michelle Boatman at [email protected].
  • We appreciate the more than 50 parents who joined us for the Parent Association meeting last week. The evening Zoom format was a helpful way for busy parents to hear more about what's happening on the Carmel Campus. If you missed the meeting you can find the recording here.
  • Our next Parent Association meeting, December 9, will be a wine and cheese gathering where we will begin discussions and sign ups for our Parent Association committees. We are thrilled to have the support of our parents and are eager to streamline your involvement in our school's work and play. Stay tuned – more details on a gathering to outline the goals of our Parent Association and committees is coming soon.

 

Middle Division

  • Grade 8 Shadow Day on Pebble Beach Campus: On Thursday, November 14, 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m., grade 8 students will experience a shadow day on the Pebble Beach Campus. Please drop your student off at the Pebble Beach Campus at 8 a.m., where they will be greeted at Douglas Hall. Return transportation to Carmel Campus will be provided by Stevenson. The shadow day is a free dress day.
  • Grade 8 Parent/Guardian Mingle: We hope your family can join us on Tuesday, November 12, 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m., at the Pebble Beach Campus to learn more about the remarkable opportunities for our grade 8 students in the Upper Division at Stevenson.   • Parent Coffee Gatherings: We appreciate those who were able to make it to our recent grade 6 and grade 8 gatherings. This is an important step towards building our community and knowing each other as parents. Our next coffees dates:
    • Grade 5: Tuesday, November 12 at 8:45 a.m.
    • Grade 7: Wednesday, November 13 at 8:20 a.m.

 

Lower Division

  • Gratitude Assembly: Please join us this Friday, November 15, at 8:25 a.m., for this assembly in the Carmel Campus Amphitheater. All families are warmly invited to share in this special moment with our students.
  • Classroom Socials: Our Classroom Socials will be held next week and are a wonderful opportunity to connect, view student work and engage with our classrooms.
    • Pre-K, Grade 2 and Grade 4: Wednesday, November 20, 8 a.m.-8:30 a.m.
    • Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 3: Thursday, November 21, 8 a.m.-8:30 a.m.
  • Free Dress Day for Pre-K and Grades 3, 4 and 5: Congratulations to Pre-K and grade 3, 4 and 5 classes for reaching or exceeding 75% participation in the Annual Fund Drive! Students in these classes are invited to enjoy free dress on Friday, November 15.
Pebble Beach Campus Updates
  • Resident Families: Thanksgiving break passes were due last Friday; if your student has not yet submitted a pass they must do so today. If you wish to reserve a spot on the shuttle for airport drop-off for Thanksgiving break, please sign up by Friday, November 15 using this form. Please note that Stevenson does not reserve shuttles for the return from break. If you wish to reserve a return shuttle, you can do so using Groome Transportation. Residential students are permitted to leave campus after their academic and co-curricular obligations Friday, November 22, and must be out of the dorm by noon on November 23. Students can return to campus on either Sunday, December 1, after noon, or Monday, December 2, by 7:30 p.m.; classes resume on Tuesday, December 3.
  • Virtual Senior Parent Tea: On Tuesday, November 12, 3 p.m.-4 p.m., Co-Directors of College Counseling Martha Allen and Jon Burke will host this tea. Register on your Pirate Page. A recording will be made available on family Pirate Pages.
  • PSAT/NMSQT®, Now What?: On Wednesday, November 13, 6 p.m.-7 p.m., Revolution Prep will host a free online parent webinar. One of their admissions experts will teach you how a good PSAT score can help your child win a National Merit Scholarship and explores the next steps – including whether your child is on track for the award. Register here.
  • Revolution Prep Practice SAT: Taking full-length practice tests under timed conditions is essential to preparing for the official test. On Saturday, November 16, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., a proctored practice exam will be offered to help your child build testing endurance and give you a real-time snapshot of their testing performance.   • Reminder: Non-interscholastics begin November 18. The deadline to make changes to winter co-curriculars is Friday, November 22. Co-curricular details for your child can be found on your Pirate Page under the "student" tab.
  • Fall Final Assessments: Assessments will take place December 16-20, during the week prior to winter break. All class meetings during this week are mandatory and cannot be rescheduled or excused due to travel plans.
