All School Update
  • Summer Camp: In our past two issues we've profiled our "Classic" and "Specialty" overnight camps. Now, we're highlighting our Pebble Beach Day Camp for rising Grades 5-8 campers. This camp provides a well-rounded experience with a mix of academic exploration, arts and crafts, outdoor adventures and interactive workshops. Multiple one-week sessions are being offered.   • Spring Dance Festival: You're invited to Stevenson's 2025 Dance Fest, featuring Upper Division student choreographers with guest dancers from the Carmel campus. The show begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 18, in the Little Theater; please arrive early as seating is limited. There will also be an audience Q & A with the student choreographers with refreshments provided.
  • No Classes: There will be no school on Monday, April 21, as it is a faculty in-service day.
Carmel Campus Updates

Lower and Middle Division

  • Book Fair: Our Literati Book Fair kicks off with the Family Dinner and Celebration on Tuesday, April 15, 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. Students will have the opportunity to shop during the school day on Wednesday, April 16 and Thursday, April 17. Funds raised will support our own library, as well as families affected by the LA fires earlier this year.
  • Culture Fair: Families, please join us on Friday, April 18, 12:45 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., for the sharing and celebration of the many cultures represented in our community.
  • Art Exhibition & Math Festival: Please save the date for this annual event which will take place on Tuesday, May 13, 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

 

Lower Division

  • Late Start: Tuesday, April 15, will be a regular late start day with classes beginning at 8:45 a.m.
  • Classroom Socials: Please join us for our spring socials, which are a perfect time to connect, see student work and celebrate classroom learning.
    • Pre-K: Wednesday, April 16, 2:10 p.m. – 2:40 p.m.
    • Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 3: Thursday, April 17, 2:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
    • Grade 2 and Grade 4: Wednesday, April 16, 2:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Step Up Nights: These events are a special opportunity for families to learn more about what's ahead for their children in the next grade level. More information will be shared soon, but we encourage you to save these dates as we look forward to partnering with you and sharing exciting updates about the year ahead for your child.
    • Rising Pre-K and Kindergarten (held in current classrooms): Tuesday, April 29, 4 p.m. – 5 p.m.
    • Rising Grades 1 – 4: Thursday, May 1, 4 p.m. – 5 p.m.

 

Middle Division

  • Late Start: Tuesday, April 15, will be a regular late start day with classes beginning at 9 a.m.
  • STEM Field Trip: Grade 7 students will go to the Tech Interactive in San Jose on Wednesday, April 16. Please drop your student(s) off at Douglas Hall on the Pebble Beach campus with their packed lunch and water by 8:15 a.m., as the bus will depart at 8:30 a.m. sharp. We will return to the Pebble Beach campus by 3:40 p.m. Please pick up your student(s) by 4 p.m.
  • Step Up Night: The Middle Division will share what is currently being worked on and provide updates on next year's programming.
    • Rising Grade 5: Tuesday, April 29, 4 p.m. – 5 p.m.
    • Rising Grades 6-8: Tuesday, April 29, 5 p.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Grade 8 Faculty/Graduate Dinner: Please mark your calendar for this celebration on June 5, 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m., on the Chapel deck at the Pebble Beach campus.

Pebble Beach Campus Updates
  • College Center Sessions – This Week: Co-directors Martha Allen and Jon Burke are hosting two college discussions for parents/guardians. For Grades 9 and 10 parents/guardians, the virtual session is Wednesday, April 16, 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. The Grade 11 virtual session is Thursday, April 17, 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. Please register on your Pirate Pages. A recording will be made available on family Pirate Pages.
  • Closed Weekend: The weekend of April 25-27 is the final closed weekend of the year for boarding students. If students need to leave for the weekend they will need to get permission from Ms. Lucy Stockdale.
  • Grade 11 Case Studies Program: A reminder to register via your Pirate Pages for this event on Saturday, April 26, 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m., at Santa Catalina School. This is a unique opportunity for students and their families to step into the shoes of a college admissions officer. In small groups led by college admissions representatives, participants will review and debate the merits of fictional applicants, gaining valuable insight into the college decision-making process. Following the session, students will have the chance to attend a college fair featuring guest colleges and universities.
  • Junior-Senior Prom: This year's prom will be held at the beautiful Santa Lucia Preserve on Saturday, May 3. The theme is "Golden Gala" and promises to be an elegant evening. Tickets are $160 per person and include round-trip transportation, dinner, DJ entertainment, professional photography, and a 360° photo booth. The evening starts with a pre-prom gathering at Douglas Hall, 3:45 p.m. – 5 p.m., with food, drinks and a red carpet photo opportunity! For safety and supervision purposes, all students will be transported together from campus at 5 p.m. to the venue and will return to campus together at the conclusion of the event. Boarding students will follow standard Friday evening sign-out procedures before the event, if desired, but must return to campus after prom and will not be permitted to leave campus or go on pass upon arrival. No exceptions will be made to this policy.
  • Spring Final Assessments: Spring semester classes will conclude with final assessments for all Grades 9-11 students during the week of May 19-23. Each class will have a two-hour assessment block where students will have an opportunity to actively demonstrate their learning and mastery for the course. Students are required to be present for these assessments; they may not be rescheduled. Seniors will be engaging in senior week programming during this time and will not be participating in spring final assessments.
  • Senior Events: Please make note of the following important dates for the Class of 2025.
    • Documentary Viewing: On Tuesday, April 15, seniors will attend an evening viewing of a documentary film by the University of Virginia's Gordie Center called HAZE, which tells the story of student Gordie Bailey and connects the dots between alcohol on campus and hazing.
    • Senior Luncheon: This special event is on Wednesday, April 16 at The Club at Pasadera. This is an opportunity for seniors to gather with select administrators and faculty and marks the official kickoff to the graduation season. Seniors have received an email invitation with details. Students will attend first period before departing by bus and will return in time for co-curriculars.
    • Graduation Details: A reminder to refer to the 2025 graduation webpage for important dates and information for seniors and their families.
  • X-Term Conclusion: At 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, X-Term will conclude. Students are required to remain on campus that evening. Boarding students must depart on Friday, June 6, by 5 p.m., and should plan all travel accordingly for that day.
  • Boarding Students Move Out Details: During X-Term, boarding students will need to complete a series of checkpoints to ensure their rooms are fully packed by Friday, June 6. All students are required to remain on campus until that date and must depart by 5 p.m. that day. Summer storage will be available for all returning students; more details will be shared soon. To help streamline the end-of-year process, we encourage boarding students who are going home on the upcoming weekends to take back any items they won't need for the remainder of the school year.
