Place-Based Experiential Learning

Every grade embarks on a unique weeklong adventure that takes learning off campus and into the wild. From exploring tide pools in Big Sur to summiting Nevada Falls in Yosemite, students conduct field research, build independence and forge lifelong friendships.

After a recent Grade 7 Yosemite trip, we heard that students quietly offered to carry classmates' backpacks during a challenging hike — without being asked. This is the character development that happens when learning meets challenge.

Advisory: Every Student Known

In our research-informed Advisory program, every student has a personalized faculty mentor who knows them deeply. Grades 7–8 meet daily in mixed-age groups; Grades 5–6 in grade-specific groups. Students self-awareness, explore purpose and build the social-emotional skills essential for adolescence.

Lower Division students benefit from the Responsive Classroom approach — morning meetings, collaborative problem-solving and consistent routines that create safe, supportive learning environments.

After-School Program: Included in Tuition

While many schools charge separately, our After-School Program is included — offering dozens of workshops from MATE Robotics to horseback riding, surfing to newspaper club. Students explore new interests without barriers.

The Pre-K–12 Advantage

Even our youngest learners benefit from resources rarely available in elementary or middle school. From schoolwide Pre-K–12 assemblies and cheering on upper-division athletic teams, to performing in the Keck Auditorium on our Pebble Beach campus and accessing professional-grade athletic facilities, students experience a vibrant, unified community. And with our upcoming math, science & engineering center, they enjoy a seamless Pre-K–12 journey enriched by opportunities that grow with them every step of the way.
