Dear Grade 11 Families-

Thanks to those grade students who have completed their first college counseling assignment titled "Tell Us About Yourself", which can be found in Scoir. If you haven't completed it yet, it's important you take the time to do so this weekend.

We're closing in on our first round of individual meetings, with many more to come! In our initial conversations we've enjoyed learning all about your interests, hobbies, goals, background and plans for the future. If you haven't had a chance to meet with your college counselor yet, be sure to reach out right away to set-up a meeting.

It's been a busy couple of weeks with Affording College Starts Here, led by NYU's Dean of Financial Aid, and Becoming a Collegiate Student-Athlete, hosted by Jon Burke, co-director of college counseling.

It's not too late to register for the digital SAT practice exam happening tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. With the on-campus SAT just around the corner, taking a practice test isn't a bad idea.

For those interested in college and career pathways in the visual and performing arts, we highly recommend this upcoming program:

College and Career Pathways in the Visual and Performing Arts (virtual)

6:00-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 13
Visual and performing artists are a unique population in the college admission landscape. In this presentation, we will cover the range of programs and schools that deliver arts degrees, what questions you can ask to determine a great fit, strategies to approach the portfolio, audition, and writing the artist statement, and how artists make a living after they graduate. Presented by Laura Young, Director of Enrollment Management at the UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture. (This event is co-hosted by Castilleja, Crystal Springs Uplands, Menlo, Nueva, and Sacred Heart Schools.) Register for the webinar here.

While it may feel a long time off, summer is just around the corner. The College Center is pleased to share our updated summer programs database. Now is the time to begin thinking about your summer plans, and your college counselor is happy to help you brainstorm ideas!

Thanks.
