President’s Welcome

Situated on two campuses surrounded by the stunning beauty of the Monterey peninsula, Stevenson is a truly remarkable place to go to school. The Carmel Campus serves our local community in grades PK-8, and grade 8 students transition to the Pebble Beach Campus, where they form a student body with new students from across the United States and over 20 countries around the world.

At each stage of the student journey, from pre-K students to seniors preparing for college, Stevenson’s goal is constant: to provide a carefully designed and individualized sequence of learning that prepares them for what comes next. Stevenson’s core values of respect, trust, safety, belonging, and inclusion inform our campus culture, emphasizing the importance of bringing kindness, empathy, and compassion into our daily lives. We strive to create an atmosphere where, as a student, you are free to be who you are, follow your curiosity, and kindle your passion for academic subjects and co-curricular pursuits. We also believe that learning joyfully in the company of others is the healthy alternative to the individual pursuit of an unattainable and unhealthy definition of perfection that prevails too often in modern life.

With a wide array of academic options and co-curricular activities, there are many ways to navigate a unique path through Stevenson. We encourage all to choose their own path, surrounded by a constellation of expert adult support to help guide their journey. Rather than seek to provide answers to the many questions that come up during childhood and adolescence, we want to equip students with the tools to find the answers on their own. Drawn from a multitude of backgrounds, cultures, and experiences, our faculty and student body will help students challenge assumptions and open their eyes to a world of new perspectives.

Visitors to our campuses often note how joyous Stevenson feels through the warmth and openness of our community. It is apparent in daily interactions here. I hope this website will convey to you a sense of who we are and what we value, and that it inspires you to plan a visit to Stevenson so you can experience the joy for yourself.

Sincerely,

Dr. Dan Griffiths
President
