October on the Monterey Peninsula brings back so many wonderful memories for me. The start of a new school year on the Pebble Beach and Carmel campuses was always an exciting time for students, teachers, and all members of the Stevenson family alike. Reuniting with friends and associates garnered such excitement and energy. Fall was football season for me, and also the start of the sports for the school year at RLS. Witnessing coaches and players share their love of sports and commitments to each other was such an inspiring experience. There is no school like Stevenson. This special place has provided many memorable experiences and been the place where many lifelong friendships have begun.

Each fall, I watched excited and determined Pirates enthusiastically participate on the cross country, water polo, field hockey, and girls tennis teams. They enjoyed much success throughout the years. It was always so amazing to look out onto the pool deck and towards Wilson Field, or wander over to the tennis courts, and see countless Pirates working hard and participating in their teams’ practices as they prepared for their upcoming contests and matches. The loyalty and genuine admiration each member of these teams showed for each other was a joy to experience. I always marveled at how much love each team player showed for each other both on and off the field, courts, and courses.

These days, returning to alumni events and witnessing Stevenson classmates and former teammates show and share their love for one another only solidifies my amazement of how deep those friendships continue to run. There is no place like RLS and we are all blessed to have shared so many special moments together.
