Stevenson’s Treasured Moments

This year’s Fall Family Weekend & Fall Break events begin the evening of Wednesday, October 15, at our Carmel Campus with President Griffiths’ State of the School address—focused on the Lower and Middle Divisions—followed by a community reception. Then on Thursday, October 16, events continue with parent/guardian and teacher conferences and a second State of the School at our Pebble Beach Campus. Families from both campuses are invited to take part in these treasured Stevenson moments—time together, Pirate pride, and meaningful connection—before enjoying a well-deserved fall break.

A Weekend of Pirate Pride

  • State of the School – Hear from Cynthia Chapman, chair, board of trustees, and Dr. Dan Griffiths, president, at both campuses as they share the course ahead for Stevenson.
  • Carmel Campus Reception – Following the Carmel State of the School, join fellow families, faculty, and staff for a reception celebrating our community.
  • Pirate Stroll at the Pebble Beach Campus – Enjoy delicious flavors and a lively campus atmosphere following the State of the School at the Pebble Beach Campus.
  • Parent/Guardian and Teacher Conferences – Meet with teachers to discuss your child’s growth and progress.
  • Homecoming Weekend – Show your Pirate pride at athletic competitions and school spirit events.
  • College Counseling Programs – Gain insight into navigating the path toward bright futures.
  • Dusty Boots Tour of the math, science, and engineering center (MSEC) – Explore this transformative space in progress.
  • Community Connections – Gather with fellow families, faculty, and friends across divisions.

Join us to listen to Dr. Dan Griffiths, president, and Ms. Cynthia Chapman, chair of the board of trustees, provide an update on the State of the School and their vision for the exciting school year ahead on the Carmel Campus.
5:45 – 7:00 p.m. Carmel Campus Parent and Guardian Reception

Following the State of the School, gather with fellow Pirate Parents and Guardians, grade-level teachers, and administrators for small bites, beverages, and joyful conversation.

11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. An Introduction to Stevenson’s College Counseling Program, Treasure Room

In this session, our co-directors of college counseling invite our Grade 7-10 families to learn more about the college counseling road ahead. You will walk away with a better understanding of our robust programming, some simple tips for preparing for the eventual application process, and hopefully a sense of calm and confidence that students and families will get all they need when the time comes.

2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Grade 9 Parent & Guardian Gathering with Upper Division Administration, Learning Commons

Meet fellow Grade 9 parents and guardians as you hear from key administrators about what to expect during the first year of high school at Stevenson. Our goal is to share the ways we can partner in this formative developmental stage.
4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Dusty Boots Tour, Douglas Hall and MSEC

Join Director of Facilities and Capital Projects Chris Madill ’86 for a behind-the-scenes introduction to our new math, science, and engineering center. We’ll gather in Douglas Hall before walking together to the construction site, where Chris will share the vision for this transformational space. To ensure your safety, please wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. Hard hats and safety vests will be provided.
5:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Pebble Beach State of the School, Erdman Chapel

Join us to listen to Dr. Dan Griffiths, president, and Ms. Cynthia Chapman, chair of the board of trustees, provide an update on the State of the School and their vision for the school year ahead and the future of Stevenson.
6:00 p.m.  – 8:00 p.m. Pirate Stroll, Pebble Beach Campus

Immediately after the State of the School, please gather with us on the Erdman Chapel deck for a cocktail (adults only, please). Then, you and your family are invited to follow your “treasure map” to find various food stations, arts showcases and athletic games around campus.

You may also pick up a treasure map in Douglas Hall and join us at the various “treasures” on campus.
7:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Senior Parent/Guardian Toast, Home of Aimée & Justin Bates ‘99

Grade 12 parents are invited to end their Pirate Stroll with a toast to a fantastic senior year at the home of Aimée Bates, head of the Upper Division.

Grade 10 Parent & Guardian Gathering, Sophomore Wilderness Expedition Preview, Treasure Room

Join fellow Grade 10 parents and guardians and learn about some of the programs at Stevenson that are built to support the developmental needs of this unique age group, including a special presentation from Expedition Director Bob McCormick about the 10-day backcountry backpacking trip that is a signature experience for many of our sophomores.

Grade 11 Parent & Guardian Gathering with Upper Division Administration, Learning Commons

We’re just over the halfway mark of high school! Let’s pause and connect with fellow Grade 11 parents. We’ll hear from our directors of college counseling and school administrators on how to effectively and thoughtfully prepare for all that the road to graduation will bring.

Faculty Appreciation Luncheon, Chapel Deck

All Upper Division faculty and staff are invited to a wonderful luncheon hosted and provided by grateful Pirate parents and guardians. Parents and guardians — volunteer opportunities for this event will be shared soon.

Homecoming Hoorah! (a special upper division student event is in the works; details coming soon)

  • Raffle Table – Students will be greeted at this table and may sign up to participate in a raffle. 
  • Chill Zone – Bean bags, blankets, and music for those who want to relax and take in the scenery. 
  • Smores- Enjoy smores at the firepit. 
  • Sport Support- On Rosen stage, students are invited to make posters to support our athletes, specifically to help decorate the stadium for Saturday’s game. Students can pick up Stevenson swag (necklaces, stickers, and tattoos) to rep our team tomorrow! 
  • Sports Activity- Spikeball, lawn games, and 9 square will be available to play. Additionally, there will be board games, and a cooler with beverages to enjoy! 
  • Craft Corner- Inside Rosen foyer, those looking for a quieter, or more creative, environment can make slime, practice henna tattoos, or make bracelets.
