Medical Insurance

As part of Stevenson’s commitment to the safety, health, and wellness of all of our students, the School requires that all students be covered by a medical insurance policy with a school-sanctioned US-based insurance carrier. Stevenson has partnered with UnitedHealthCare Options PPO Plan to offer comprehensive insurance plans only for international students. Please click here for detailed information about this plan.

Students from Within the United States

Domestic students must upload proof of US-based health insurance (front and back of card) to the Magnus Health portal and are not eligible to enroll with the United HealthCare Options PPO Plan.

Students from Outside the United States

Students from outside the United States will need to enroll in the school-approved insurance plan by July 1 unless they are able to provide proof of US-based insurance. To enroll in the insurance plan, you may CLICK HERE to navigate to the carrier’s portal where you may sign up for an international student health insurance plan. These families do not need to upload proof of insurance to Magnus Health. The Health Center will upload all insurance cards for all enrolled international students once we receive them in late summer.

Exceptions:

  • Students sponsored by a governmental or embassy based program that guarantees payment of all medical expenses.
  • Students who have insurance from a U.S. based employer that provides medical evacuation and repatriation benefits.

Updating Medical Information

Current medical insurance information and prescription coverage must be kept on file via the Magnus Health system. Any changes in medical insurance information must be immediately updated via Magnus Health.

Accident Insurance

Stevenson provides supplemental accident insurance for all students while they are participating in any school activity. The parents’ insurance is still considered the primary insurance. This insurance covers accidents only, not illnesses. Parents should file claims under their own insurance policy prior to filing under the school policy.

Be sure to contact the Stevenson School Health Center within 15 days of an accident to make sure all reports have been filed. Claims not completed within 90 days may not be processed.

Personal Property Insurance

National Student Services NSSI offers personal property insurance policies for students. Policies cover personal property from theft, fire, flood, vandalism, natural disasters, and accidental damage to personal property such as laptops and electronics, cameras, cell phones, musical instruments, furniture, and other items. This is optional insurance that may provide coverage for items not covered under your homeowners policy.

Tuition Refund Insurance

Tuition refund insurance is mandatory for all families electing to pay tuition in installments. The premium is an additional cost of approximately 3.4% of the net tuition due and will be added to your tuition billing for the year. The policy is offered by Dewar.
