The room parent program is back at the Carmel Campus, and a terrific group of parents has stepped up to help launch it this year.

Room parents are now in place for every grade. They will share information and create opportunities for families in their classroom to connect and coordinate with classroom teachers – or with Tyler Brown, middle division dean of students – with support from Gina Nobida, associate director of admissions and parent engagement coordinator on campus. Room parents will also meet regularly with Gina Nobida and Corine Mink, director of constituent relations, with input from Head of Middle Division Scott Parker and Head of Lower Division Nifemi Lesi, to review what the school needs and to support their ideas.

At the heart of the relaunch is a simple goal: to strengthen the relationship between families and school, and to give every parent a way to feel connected, informed and part of the life of the Carmel Campus.

Getting involved should be easy and flexible. That might mean baking cupcakes for a class party, staffing an event, hosting a gathering or volunteering for the Annual Fund. Room parents aren’t being asked to do it all. They’re helping find the people in each class who want to step forward.

It works in both directions. Room parents help the school share where support is needed, and they give families a stronger voice – a way to bring ideas forward, get to know one another and help shape the traditions that make this community feel like home.

Watch for a note from your room parent in the coming weeks. Whatever your time and interest allow, there’s a place for you.
