The school day may end, but the opportunities to learn, explore and have fun continue. Stevenson’s After-School Program on the Carmel Campus gives students in Pre-K through Grade 8 opportunities to discover new interests, develop skills and spend time with friends beyond the classroom.

Included in tuition, the program offers a variety of workshops in the arts, STEM, athletics and more, with activities tailored to different age groups and changing each semester.

For our Lower Division students, after-school activities provide opportunities to explore their creativity and try something new. Offerings have included 3D printing and modeling, Lego design, cooking, chess, horseback riding, surfing and nature exploration.

As students move into the Middle Division, their options expand to include activities such as robotics, archery, sailing, dance and journalism. Students can also participate in team and individual sports throughout the year, including soccer, volleyball, cross country, basketball, flag football, track, tennis and golf.

Helping bring these opportunities to life is our new After-School Program Director Kulaea Tulua. Kulaea brings extensive experience working with young people through athletics, education and community programming. She previously served as a coach and camp counselor with The Wave Program, developing inclusive sports activities for students in grades 4–7, and as a physical education instructional assistant at Pacific Grove High School. She is also familiar to our Stevenson community, having previously coached girls junior varsity basketball on the Pebble Beach Campus.

Kulaea holds a master’s degree in leadership studies from the University of San Diego and has experience coordinating community wellness programs that bring people together through activities ranging from sports to the arts. She will work closely with our faculty and staff to continue developing after-school experiences that reflect students’ interests and encourage them to explore new possibilities.

Whether students are discovering a new hobby, developing their athletic skills or simply enjoying time with friends, the After-School Program offers another opportunity to make the most of their Stevenson experience.

Workshop offerings for each term will be shared with families once student and teacher preferences have been collected and organized. We look forward to another year of exploration, creativity and fun!
